Beech Drums

I bought a set of Yamaha beech custom drums
1 year ago and i like them very much.
The set i have is the "oldest model"
Have anybody ane experience with the new
models compared to the old model.

When they made them thicker, I thought why?
I remember really liking the original series - they had it all attack, tone and great depth. I wasn't thrilled by any of the colors, though other than the pear, they certainly weren't bad. I've heard the newer ones and they still sound good, but given the choice I prefer thinner shells.

I like Yamaha's exploration of other woods. Oak, Beech, Maple, Birch, Bamboo (snare), Fiberglass (oops, not wood!) I wish more majors offered more material choices.
